Dad Makes a Low-Cost 3D-Printed Prosthetic Hand For His Son
By October 30, 2013
on Leon McCarthy was born without fingers on one of his hands due to restricted blood flow in the womb, CBS reports. Two years ago, his father Paul McCarthy saw a video of Liam and his 3D-printed Robohand and searched online for a 3D-printed prosthetic pattern for his son. Since, Leon has learned to use the inexpensive 3D-printed prosthetic and he and his father work to modify the original design to make more useful hands whenever he outgrows one. Previously we posted about the Open Hand Project, an attempt to create an open-source 3D-printed prosthetic hand for people just like Leon.
